| This shifted from a UWR blink deck with Aethermage's Touch and Bogardan Hellkite into this UW version, which plays and controls the game more like Astral Slide with plenty of ETB creatures and end-game lockdowns.
Turn 4 instant speed Bogardan Hellkite off of Aethermage's Touch is powerful, but the odds of playing Touch end of turn, getting a Hellkite in the top 4, then next turn playing a Blink or Cloudshift to have it stick were very low. I'd have to dedicate numerous copies of Ponder, Portent, Telling Time, and Halimar Depths just to accomplish this combo, and I'd rather have a more streamlined deck. I thought about Blink Riders as well, but 3 enemy colors is going to be trickier and I figured against control bouncing lands with Cloudskate and Fogbringer would be as effective. I don't think this type of deck has been played before, so I'm curious to see how it goes against the current metagame. |
