COMMENTS |
The maindeck is constructed to out tempo every other midrange variant with grindy topend that cannot be interacted with favorably while also being able to disrupt unprepared combo and control decks long enough to steal a win.
Versatile sideboard cards are key here with Kunoros and Samurai pulling their weight as grave hate and anti aggro to save sideboard space due to Legion Angel. Revoke Existence is an allstar card that comes in against any artifact/enchantment synergy decks but especially blows out artifact lands and their main abuser: Jokulhaups. Sudden Edict serves a similar purpose, both being a prime removal spell against Ensoul Artifact and uncounterable removal against Ux decks that rely on countermagic to protect their wincons. Your single worst matchup is RDW game one, with its 12+ removal spells your hand disruption falters and transitioning to late game becomes very difficult. Slow and inconsistent removal in the form of Vindicate and Sudden Edict become huge hindrances. Sideboarding this reactive removal into proactive creatures to play defense vastly improves your post sideboard games. |
