COMMENTS
Gruul seems to be the deck to beat, and rightly so. I enjoy playing Gruul, but would rather not play the "deck to beat."

I also enjoy playing Bant Hexproof, but it seems to be a Tier 2 deck in real Standard and in Silverblack Standard. In hopes of improving it's chances in SB STD, I chose to revisit how the deck translates from regular Standard.

The biggest change, in my humble opinion, is the loss of the rare lands. Sure, we have Gates, but relying on Gates seriously weakens our options for turn 1 (as they ETB tapped.) Avacyn's Pilgrim and Abundant Growth are very popular cards in many builds of Bant Hexproof, but they are less exciting on turn 2. To deal with this, I've chosen to ignore Gates, and rely on turn one plays based in green.

Focusing on green for turn 1, I wanted plenty of Forests. This left me little room for enough Islands and Plains. Pilgrim would help ensure I'd have white mana, but finding blue would be challenging. This was a problem given that I want blue on turn 2 for Stalker. Caravan Vigil showed up as a green turn 1 play which would help me fix my mana without a real card loss. Many Standard Bant Hexproof lists use Farseek. I'm not looking to ramp - I just wanted another green turn 1 option and mana fixing. Viola!

Then I went about examining the other cards in many lists, regular and Silverblack. Primal Huntbeast shows up in SilverBlack lists as well as my Std Pauper lists. I was using it here until I figured it was redundant. My hexy 4 drop is Lawmage. I don't really want to play a creature everyone can block. Sure I can give it trample, but look at all the Deathtouch in many sideboards. In it's place, I eventually settled on Visionary. Why? Well I want consistency and I want to slow down aggro decks. Draw a card and chump block.

Given that I'm relying on hexproof dudes that already fly or are unblockable, I felt I could skip Spectral Flight. So I did.

With the additions of Caravan Vigil and Visionary on top of the existing Abundant Growth and Avacyn's Pilgrim, I felt I could drop to 20 lands. I've goldfished a few games, and it seems to come up ok that way.

Centaur Healer was a no-brainer for me. Some Standard lists ran Smiter, but it's rare. Aggro has been dominating SB STD, and the Healer helps in that match.

Let's see how it work. I'll try to post match notes.
