I don't have a lot of the money cards for Modern, so this has to do me for some fun in the Birthday Bash :)

Rnd 1 vs Knight of the Reliqaury.
G1 my first three lands are pain lands. Student is not so good like that! I bolt some early birds, but the power overwhelems me soon anyway.
G2 my opp admits a slow start. I make a little air force and punish the slow start.
G3 was long, tough, and close. I hold him off with Finks and sneak out a win with a little air force.

Rnd 2 vs Goblins.
G1 I think my opp has a bad start, but Finks and tough on red anyway.
G2, perhaps another poor start for red, but Finks and Helix make things poorer for red.

After two matches I feel like I want to drop a Mountain or two for more Plains. Student needs white, and the deck really has very little need for red mana. (Change it after the event, of course.)

Rnd 3 vs Splinter Twin combo.
Cool deck. Set up fast and solid in G1.
G2 I stumble for lands. I had sided in 6 cards to hurt combo, but didn't get them or land. Combo got me.

After getting killed quickly by combo, I had some time to test with some other decks. Pridemate never seems so strong in this deck. Just not enough gain for it to be broken. So I think I might try something like Knight of the Meadowgrain. The double white is tougher, but I want to up the white mana count anyway.

Also, I don't like Brave the Elements in this format. I haven't faced sweepers, and too often I want to tap out my white to level up Student. I could see keeping one or two Elements for a late game alpha strike, but three is too many.

Figure of Destiny would be nice, but I don't own them online, and I'm not interested in paying for them.

Rnd 4 vs Counter Exalted stuff.
G1 he gets a sick start, and I don't.
When the first two cards he plays add up to more $$$ than my whole collection, I give up. I play Pauper and Silverblack for a reason.
