Rnd 1
G1 I keep a two forest hand. My deck doesn't have action for two forests, but surely I'll draw a land or Sprawl to play Wayfinder. Nope. G2 I get the land I need to play. Then more land. Then more land. And three Wayfinders! Chances are Simic Skyswallower would have beat me anyway, but that would have been more fun. Rnd 2 vs the hosts Glare deck. I knew the Glare deck had gone 10-1 over two previous events, so I had some tools to fight it. We both battled some tough luck, with my opp having to mulligan a few times during the match. In the end, it was my brutal luck that took me from a winning position to total flood in G3. The Glare did come down late in that game, but it really didn't matter as I drew several lands in a row. An error with the Legendary rule hurt me too :) Rnd 3 vs PK's cool Esper deck. I wish I had played something more like PK's deck. We had an interesting match going on during the first two games. His control elements took over in G1, and I went aggro in G2. In G3 he was settling in to control me and multiple land draws kept me from resisting. |
