COMMENTS |
My deck wasn't optimial, cuz I was blinging it out with foils and promo's instead of making it right.
Rnd 1 bye. Rnd 2 vs Delver. Both games were farily close, and a couple different draws on either side would have changed things. I think my deck being different than the aggro Naya decks one might expect allowed me to work my bug dudes through some counter magic. Rnd 3 vs PK23's Tricks Very cool deck. We each had at least one game with some clunky draws. Sadly, his rough game was G3. G2 went fairly long, and he was generating tons of card advantage. He was pretty much in control, when I drew a burts and had mana to kick it and play the two bolts I had in hand to do 11. Kinda lame really. T8 vs Paro's strong Orzhov deck. Great deck, and Paro knows how to pilot it. G1 was fantastic. It went long, and back and forth. I had a chance to win it if I had equiped a different creature for my last attack. I put him to 6 with Brimstone Volley in hand. Close! G2 he got totally mana shorted. Luckily for him, I totally flooded and didn't draw much beef. Poked away with Pilgrims and such. He stayed shorted though, and I eventually took advantage. G3 I kept a one land hand with an Abundance and tons of two drops. Not a band gamble eh? I lots the gamble and missed some land drops, but was still in it when I found the land I needed. Paro drew perfectly though, with just one dead Duress being the only play that wasn't devastating to me. I had sided in three Wickerbough Elders, but never found one to answer the THREE Journy to Nowhere's he played (as if a couple Unmakes weren't enough). Of course, once I found my land, I drew too much of it, and ended the game with more land than Paro after I started short. Win some that way, lose some that way. Cool event. Good host. Fun decks! |
