COMMENTS |
Our protagonist ponders this profound question. Firstly, some tips to myself so I could get better at this game. I really desperately want to improve my lacking skills so I could avoid losses due to my egregious errors:
A) play a combo deck, and just have it all every game even without card filtering or selection B) about to die, on my final turn, and rip the only out in my deck, even if it's only a 2-of C) have a situational 1-of out in play, also on my final turn, that happens to be perfect for this situation, barely avoiding death (I cannot even draw my multiples that are good in the entire matchup, let alone a 1-of) D) hit best possible outcomes out of RNG cards like Hymns and Spectres. The last one is truly a genius strategy - why limit topdeck power to my deck, when it can be extended also to my opponent's? This type of innately gifted prowess at the game could win a GP so I will take these insights into consideration. I dream of the time where I could be massively behind on board, be hellbent, but just dazzle my opponent with impressive displays of topdeck firepower over multiple sequential draw steps. Runner runner chicken dinner! And I just want to add that, again, my vote was not even needed to throw out Bridge from the format, and put Shrieking Affliction on the watchlist too (an idea that I hadn't even considered). It's nice to see that more people want to play actual fair games of tribal Magic than otherwise. Too bad the only Dog-Eat-Underdog interesting event we had was marred by the same oppressive nonsense (and the Underdog event before that too). What does it mean if a deck is only stopped by something so predatory and broken, that we all knew it was going to get banned? Why do some people insist on making unfun zero-sum non-tribal decks in a casual tribal format on Saturdays? Oh right, my vote was not even needed either to remove Wolf from Underdog either. (I remember a while ago, a certain someone playing against Wolfpack Ambusher for the first time and made note of its power, even when others didn't take his claims too seriously). I know I rarely got called the RUC last season (actually just once, the week after, but who is counting right? :) ), and I didn't get the beautiful Commencement of Festivities artwork either at the end of a very historic and record-breaking season, and I am truly the insular red-headed stepchild, but it's good to know that my tribal instincts are on my point nonetheless. The hydroxychloroquine of the format. |
