COMMENTS |
Bug referenced is Mimic Vast, which last week did not allow me to respond to its initial Imprint trigger, which exiled my creature and then beat me down with the copies. I was going to exile my creature in response at instant speed, exactly like using Goryo's Vengeance on an Emrakul in the graveyard in response to the trigger, which would have prevented the copying and the game loss, but for some reason MTGO did not allow me. Oh well, at least this card was only a 1-of in the deck. Wait - that makes me feel even worse. Great. (That was G2, and the following Game 3 was just a classic mana screw where I couldn't even play. What else is new?)
I hope this time fares better than the last Pioneer event, where I also played Spirits, where I lost to an opposing 2 Chainwhirlers which somehow showed up just as prevalent in all of our games as the combined 4 Selfess Spirits and 8 Lords that nullify that card's effect and would've prevented my board from being wiped. As a comparison to the 2-of Chainwhirler which wrecked my board in multiple games of a SINGLE match (despite running 12 counter cards), I also ran a 2-of of Settle the Wreckage, which would've saved me vs. aggro, and I haven't seen or drawn that card even once in multiple EVENTS. That's right; I see an opposing 2-of multiple times in a single match, whereas my 2-of I couldn't see even once in at least 2, possibly 3, entire events (so that's 6-9 matches). All the Pioneer subformats where I played Spirits. Too funny Short of one topdeck against Oozes, my miserable luck has been an exercise in statistical anomalies. If I'm not getting mana screwed with 25 lands, BOTH games 2 and 3, I'd be getting mana-screwed in literally all 3 games of an important match where I was playing for an undefeated hat trick. Both were good matchups too, but matchups don't matter if < 1% probabilities happen to you on a suspiciously frequent basis. I wish I didn't give up competitive chess when I was younger. At least then, when you lost, it meant something, instead of the universe being out to get you. |
