COMMENTS
*Had to replace Shivan Reef with basic Mountain.

Round 1: Loss to Clerics combo. I was given a match loss due to having a Shivan Reef in my deck. Ironically, I only had 1 in my deck, and it was basically irrelevant to my manafixing or game plan. It was also my first time playing the format so I wasn't 100% sure as to what was allowed, I saw others playing with painlands, and added the one copy at the last minute. Funny because I had scrubbed my entire list with the spreadsheet before the matches, and it was ok, but added the reef at the last minute. It's unclear what the result would have been in the match anyway because I lost g1, but had a Forbid soft-lock g2, and probably would have gone on to win.

Round 2: played warp world combo. Won g1. Lost g2. G3 I sideboarded poorly and should have brought in my thought hemorrhage for warp world. I handled his initial wave of aggression quite easily and had a forbid soft lock. However, I made some foolish mistakes and also had some terrible top decks. I needed Devil's Play, Burning Vengeance, Wild Research, or any draw, and didn't get it. Eventually he resolved Warp World around turn 15.

Round 3: Bye.

Overall: Not the way I wanted to start off my Heirloom experience, but there's something to build on. Burning Vengeance simply didn't do much, I didn't play very well due to inexperience in the format, and there were misteps with what was allowed/what wasn't.

However, some things worked very well. Forbid performed great and I think Consume the Meek is an underused spell, possibly the best mass removal in the format. I may work a more traditional UB control deck next week centered around those two spells, I may try something else entirely, or I may return to Modern Pauper, which is also on Sunday's.
