COMMENTS
Title uses MTGOTraders for the price of 4x Thorn of the Black Rose currently. Clearly an excellent investment for a Tribal only player, in a subformat that is almost never played. What is it, the 2nd time in 8 years?

The unfortunate truth is that MTG is not an accessible game. After being paired to a bad matchup to the eventual event winner, and then afterwards, being paired up to a mirror which uses the 46-tix upgrade (in Pauper), for a single playset of COMMONS, one that wins the mirror on its own, I cannot say I feel too bad. What can I say, I would've preferred one of the byes, or to play against Wolverines. I hear they are cheaper to build, in a format named after frugality.

Speaking of exorbitant MTG pricing, Commandeer replaces FoW, and shocklands replace the dual lands. Sorry guys, as much as I try my best, the money factor (as well as hilariously bad and mismatched pairings, and mana problems) is quite a real one, ESPECIALLY in the time of Covid financial and social calamity.

Since you asked, the usual mana problems this time were 3 lands in 15 cards, half the normal amount, then a 7 in 11, double the normal amount, occurring back-to-back. So, not quite my crowning achievement of 2 lands in 22 cards a few weeks ago, but still a significant disadvantage. To be fair, after getting beat down by a 46 ticket common playset, in a 1-of tribal subformat that is not prudent to invest in, in a sorta casual PRE tournament, in a pair up to an undefeated deck, which itself was after losing a bad matchup to the eventual winner the previous round, one doesn't even remember such things, but rather one wonders if the name Pauper is a misnomer. Or why I had to get double ringers, in a pair up, instead of the byes or actual "Pauper" decks.

Also an obligatory I was right about Companions. I know, you are all shocked. What can I say; at least some players choose to think about things in a cerebral and analytical manner without resorting to personal attacks on character.

God bless the skill-based MTG game, not heavily influenced by money or RNG at all, and its players that are known to be thoughtful, analytical, and love to discuss real issues, instead of throw baseless personal attacks at one another, while simultaneously trying to play the most unfun and non-Tribal cards possible.

Abandon all hope, ye who don't have aberrant minds with a twisted sense of fun.
